Stop Freaking Out About AI, You're Doing Fine
Every time you open your phone, there's another "revolutionary" AI tool that's supposedly going to change everything. Your LinkedIn feed is full of people claiming they're "10x more productive" with some new app you've never heard of. And meanwhile, you're sitting there wondering if you've already missed the boat.
I'm here to tell you something: breathe. You're not behind. The game isn't over. You're just caught up in the chaos, and honestly, that's exactly where these companies want you.
I've been swimming in this AI ocean for three years now. I manage projects, automate stuff, and create content about it. Even with all that experience, I'm not some coding wizard—I'm just a regular person who got tired of feeling overwhelmed and decided to figure out what actually works.
The Problem Isn't You
Here's what's really happening: every tech company has figured out that slapping "AI-powered" on their product gets attention. So now we're drowning in announcements. New models, new features, new benchmarks that supposedly prove this one is 47% better than that one.
But here's the thing nobody talks about—most of these "improvements" don't actually improve your life. I remember when the latest ChatGPT model came out. Everyone was raving about how sophisticated it was. I tried it, and yeah, it was impressive. It was also slower than molasses. I had actual work to get done, so I went right back to the previous version because it was fast enough and got the job done.
That's when it hit me: we're not looking for the most advanced AI. We're looking for the AI that makes our Tuesday afternoon a little easier.
How I Actually Use AI (Without Losing My Mind)
Forget about having the perfect setup. Here's how I approach it, and it's stupidly simple:
First, I figure out what's actually annoying me. For me, it was spending forever watching YouTube videos when I just needed the key points. I love learning, but I don't have three hours to watch someone explain something I could understand in five minutes.
Then I find tools that fix that specific problem. I tested a bunch of transcription apps and settled on NoteGPT paired with ChatGPT. NoteGPT gives me clean text from any video, ChatGPT turns it into a quick summary. Done.
Finally, I stick with it until it becomes automatic. Now I can process any video in minutes without thinking about it. No stress, no second-guessing whether I'm doing it "right."
When something better comes along that clearly beats my current setup, sure, I'll switch. But I'm not jumping ship every time someone releases version 2.0 of something that's barely different from version 1.0.
The Prompt Problem Nobody Talks About
Can we talk about prompts for a second? Everyone shares these amazing prompts that supposedly work miracles, but then you never use them because you can't remember where you saved them or how they were supposed to work.
I solved this in the most boring way possible: I put my go-to prompts in a text expander app (Raycast if you're on Mac, BeefText for Windows). It automatically pastes my video summary prompt. I also keep a simple database in Notion with all my prompts organized by what they do.
It's not sexy, but it works. And "works" beats "perfect" every single time.
My Surprisingly Boring Strategy
This is going to sound way less exciting than the typical "I'm crushing it with AI" post, but here's what actually works:
I got really good at a few tools instead of trying everything. My core setup covers about 95% of what I need to do. When I find something that doesn't work, I fix it or find a workaround. I don't immediately go hunting for a new app.
I pay attention to updates for the stuff I already use. That's where the real improvements happen—when the tools you know get better, not when you switch to something completely new.
Once a week, I'll check out new tools. But I do it deliberately, not because I saw a flashy demo on X. I ask myself: "What's still frustrating me that I haven't solved?" Then I look for solutions to those specific problems.
I write everything down. My prompts, my workflows, my little tricks—it all goes in my notes. Because a system you can't remember isn't really a system.
The Truth About Staying Current
Staying current doesn't mean using everything new. It means knowing what's worth your time and confidently ignoring the rest.
You know what impresses people? Getting stuff done. Consistently. Without drama. Not having the latest AI assistant that can supposedly read your mind but breaks every time you actually need it.
Bottom Line
You don't need fifty AI tools. You don't need to understand the technical details of how large language models work. You need to pick a few things that solve real problems in your life, get good at them, and stop feeling guilty about not trying every new thing that comes out.
I've put together a simple toolkit with exactly what I use every day—nothing fancy, just the stuff that actually saves me time. If you want it, just comment "toolkit" on the video below and i’ll send it over.
Stop beating yourself up about not being on the cutting edge. The cutting edge is overrated anyway. The goal isn't to be impressive—it's to get your work done and maybe have a little more time for the things that actually matter.
My Favorite AI Fact Of The Week:
AI-created “pet dramas” have exploded into a new content niche
Creators are making consistent, high-ROI short-form content without filming a single pet.
